Swappa is a US marketplace, but you do not have to live in the US to buy on it. Since August 2024, QuickBox USA has been Swappa’s international shipping partner for Central America. This guide covers who it serves, how to order step by step, which listings qualify, and the rules that protect you and the seller.
Quick Answer
If you live in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, or Panama, open a QuickBox USA account for your country, shop Swappa listings marked with QuickBox support, and check out using your QuickBox address and mailbox number. QuickBox receives the package in the US and forwards it to you.

How to Buy on Swappa With QuickBox USA
The process takes three steps. Swappa also has a one-minute video, How to Buy Used Tech on Swappa Internationally, if you would rather watch it.
- Create a QuickBox USA account for your country. Use the link for your country in the table above. QuickBox gives you a US shipping address and a personal mailbox number.
- Shop listings eligible for international shipping. Start from your country’s Swappa page, or turn on the International Shipping filter on any product listings page. Eligible listings show a QuickBox badge.
- Check out with your QuickBox address. Enter your QuickBox USA address as the shipping address and include your mailbox number, which goes in the Apt / Suite / Other line so QuickBox can match the package to your account. Pay with a US-based payment source.
Once the seller ships, tracking appears on your Swappa sale page. QuickBox then handles the trip from its US facility to you, with its own shipping charges and delivery times.
How to Tell if a Listing Supports QuickBox
Not every seller offers international shipping, so check before you buy.
- Look for the QuickBox badge on the listing card or in the seller details on the listing page. Business sellers such as Certified Gadgets and Adopt-A-Phone show it on their listings.
- Use the International Shipping filter on a product’s listings page to hide everything that does not qualify.
- Browse from your country page, which only shows eligible listings.
This matters because of one rule. If a listing is marked with QuickBox or Stackry support, you can buy without asking the seller first. If you want to use any forwarding address on a listing that is not marked, you must get the seller’s permission before every purchase, and you have to ask in the listing comments.
Rules to Know Before You Buy
These come from Swappa’s international and freight-forwarding FAQs. They are short, and they decide who pays when something goes wrong.
- You need a US shipping address and a US-based payment source. Your QuickBox address covers the first part.
- International payment sources cost extra. If you pay with an international payment source, you are responsible for paying the seller back the international PayPal fee before the device ships. Sellers are not responsible for currency exchange differences.
- The seller’s job ends at the forwarder. Sellers are not responsible for lost or mishandled packages once the item is delivered to the freight forwarder. PayPal seller protections still apply when the seller ships with tracking and insurance to the address from your PayPal checkout.
- Returns cost more from abroad. If you use a freight forwarder, the seller is not responsible for international shipping costs to get the device back.
- The One-Year Limited Warranty does not travel. The seller-provided One-Year Limited Warranty excludes purchases outside the 48 contiguous US states, so do not count on it for a device you are shipping to Central America.
- Swappa’s standard protections still apply to the purchase. If a device is not as described, you are entitled to a refund under Swappa’s Returns and Refunds policy. The details are in the international FAQ.

Tips for Buying a US Phone for Use in Central America
A phone that works perfectly in the US still has to work on your local network.
- Buy factory unlocked. Swappa’s Unlocked category is reserved for phones that were factory unlocked, which is the safest choice for use on a carrier outside the US. Unlocked vs. Carrier-Locked Phones explains the difference.
- Check eSIM before you buy a recent iPhone. US models of the iPhone 14 and newer have no physical SIM tray. Confirm your local carrier supports eSIM first. eSIM and Used Phones covers what to check.
- Confirm network bands. Unlocked does not guarantee every band your carrier uses. Look up the model’s supported bands and compare them with your carrier’s.
- Read the description. Check the battery health, condition, and what is included, since returns are slower and more expensive from abroad.
FAQ
Which countries does QuickBox USA serve for Swappa orders?
QuickBox USA serves buyers in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama. You create a QuickBox USA account for your country, then use your QuickBox address and mailbox number at checkout on Swappa.
Do I need to ask the seller before buying with QuickBox USA?
Not if the listing is marked with QuickBox support. For listings without the QuickBox or Stackry badge, you must get the seller’s permission in the listing comments before every purchase that ships to a forwarding address.
Can I pay with a card from outside the US?
Swappa requires a US-based payment source for international buyers. If you use an international payment source, you must pay the seller back the international PayPal fee before the device ships, and the seller is not responsible for exchange rate differences.
Who is responsible if the package is lost after it reaches QuickBox?
Once the seller delivers the item to the freight forwarder with tracking, the seller is not responsible for lost or mishandled packages. Any issue after that point is between you and the forwarder.
Does the One-Year Limited Warranty cover devices shipped to Central America?
No. The seller-provided One-Year Limited Warranty excludes purchases outside the 48 contiguous US states. Swappa’s standard protection for items that are not as described still applies to the purchase itself.
What if I live outside Central America?
Use Stackry, Swappa’s other international shipping partner. It provides a free US address with a locker number, stores packages free for up to 45 days, and ships to more than 200 countries.
The Bottom Line
QuickBox USA turns Swappa into a practical option for buyers in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama. Open an account for your country, stick to listings with the QuickBox badge, pay with a US-based payment source, and buy factory unlocked so the phone works on your local network when it arrives.
