Well it appears something is wrong with the phone. Cosmetically the phone is fine. However, after numerous updates it has become clear that there is some kind of hardware issue. Since activating the phone I have gotten repeated SIM card errors. I have swapped out the SIM for the confirmed working SIM from my previous phone (also Moto X 1 gen) and I am still getting SIM errors. I will attempt to resolve the issue with Republic Wireless though it it is likely they will not assist me as the phone is used.
