Update (10/22/15):
Nine months after the sale (after the Paypal protection period ended), a problem arose with the phone's ESN which neither the seller nor I had anticipated, and the phone stopped working on the cellular network. The seller went out of his way to make things right, and in the end, he wound up paying to replace the phone with a working model.
I would definitely buy from him again. Honest, with integrity.
