The iPhone 18 series, which includes the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, centers on the most significant camera change Apple has made in years. The 48MP main camera now uses a variable aperture: six laser-cut blades, each thinner than a human hair, that move between f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8, and f/4.0. It is the first moving part ever placed in an iPhone main camera, gathering roughly 50% more light wide open than the previous fixed aperture, and it adjusts automatically or can be driven manually alongside new controls for white balance, shutter speed, and a live histogram. Both models are powered by the new 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip, with a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU, and dual 16-core Neural Engine, which Apple rates at up to 40% better sustained performance. The 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR displays carry ProMotion up to 120Hz in an aluminum unibody frame, joined by a 48MP ultra wide, an 8x optical-quality telephoto, and an 18MP Center Stage front camera. Battery life reaches up to 36 hours of video playback on the Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max, with roughly 50% charge in 15 minutes wired. The series arrives in Burgundy, Glacier, Silver, and Black, with storage running from 256GB to a new 2TB tier.
