SCOTT CELLULAR

The phone is in good working order, but it is NOT the unlocked version of the US996. It's the US Cellular version -- carrier unlocked, not factory unlocked. That means in order to root it (the whole point of this model), you have to use exploits that cause weird static on boot, among other things. The factory-unlocked US996 only requires registration on the LG website. I would have sent it back, but by the time I realized it was an option (I'm new to Swappa), I had already used the exploit to root it and restore a backup from my damaged, unlocked US996. I figured it would be a "you break it, you bought it" scenario.

I spent hours trying to figure out why it wouldn't unlock and how to fix it, and finally giving up and accepting that I had overpaid for a phone that I know I'll never really be happy with. If it had really been the unlocked US996, it would have been an acceptable price (but no bargain). For this US Cellular version, it should have been maybe $150.

Great transaction. Scott was very quick to get the phone in the mail (Same day as purchase!!!) The phone arrived very well packed and was consistent with the pictures provided.
