I am looking for something for my 12 year old to add to our Verizon plan. I see that this phone is rooted, and I'm not too familiar with what entails. Is there anything we would need to know about it before using a rooted phone?

Rooted just means that I have gained access to the root files in order to install whatever software I wish (and don't have to use Verizon/Samsung software) CyanogenMod is the ROM or version of Android OS that I have installed instead of the carrier modified version of Android (verizon stock apps/Samsung touchwiz skin)

In my opinion this is a benefit because it gets rid of a lot of bloatware and is more customizable, but it does have the drawback of voiding the warranty (don't worry its out of warranty anyway).
