Hi, has this been refurbished by a third-party manufacturer? Also what is the current battery cycle count for it? Thanks!

Dec 31, 2022 - 01:32 AM

Also do you know the current battery capacity for it as well?

Both of your questions are answered in the description. Please read it carefully.

The battery is in good condition, Apple tested it and found it to have no issues. Thank you.

You only list that it has "180 cycles on battery." That description is not clear as the maximum cycle count for this model according to Apple is 1000. Not sure if you meant that 180 cycles is left or that's how much of it has been used out of the maximum cycle count. Also no description on whether or not the laptop has been gone through repairs from a third-party manufacturer. You only list that it is in excellent condition and that it "received a new top case from Apple recently," which is an accessory and doesn't indicate whether or not its received any repairs. Again, that isn't very descriptive. The description nor screenshot does not list any information regarding the battery capacity (which is different from the battery cycle count) so unless we are looking at different descriptions, please provide the information I requested because I simply do not see it in your description. Thank you.

You know, I've been selling Macs for quite a few years but I've never had anyone question me about battery cycles like this. The 1000 cycles is a theoretical limit. I've seen batteries that lasted 1700 cycles and I've seen ones that went bad at 50. I have no idea why you'd think I would be using that as a point of measure. It has 180 cycles from 0. I hope that's clear enough.

The topcase is *not* an accessory. It is actually the bottom part of the case clam shell which houses the logic board, keyboard and battery. That part was replaced by Apple under a recall program so it is new. Now, before you ask, only the keyboard gets replaced in such cases, battery and board remain original. Aside from that, as far as I know, nothing's been replaced by Apple or anyone else.

As for the capacity, I'm nowhere near the machine so I can't provide that right away. However, Apple runs a full suite of tests on these when they make repairs and it passed everything just fine so the capacity should be satisfactory as they'd mention something if it wasn't. Hope this is detailed enough.
