Mitch, that's interesting. I don't know how Apple Care works, as this is my first iPhone. I tried it out for a couple months, and switched back to Android. I don't see anything obvious about the Apple Care being tied to the original purchaser.
(Original purchase date is 10/2020, so it's has 5mo yet on it).
