Jonesie, just in case I can't find it Microsoft does have a spot on their site where you can input the SN of the device and see warranty status. I didn't purchase any additional warranty through Best Buy. The MS warranty is good for a year and includes 3 months of Tech Support. I don't believe you need physical receipt for that.
