It’s still under warranty from Dec. 20, 2018. You Can purchase AppleCare before then. I’ll get back to you on the battery cycle count ASAP. Computer is not with me.

As mentioned, this unit was bought from the apple store, refurbished. Came in good if not better than new. This wasn’t purchased from a Third Party Refurbisher nor an open box item. Hope this helps in your decision. You can still get apple care for this by Friday, Dec, 20, 2018.

Joseph, just to clarify. Apple's refurbished units are typically undistinguishable from new and are eligible for Applecare purchase for the first 90 days - after that, you are not able to acquire it. You can add Square or other 3rd party warranty policies typically as long as the unit is under the original factory warranty.

I spoke to an Apple Specialist on the phone a few weeks back regarding the purchase of an AppleCare protection plan and this unit IS eligible until the 20th of December, which I think most consumers are unaware of. What you're speaking of is the AppleCare+ (plus) plan that's limited to New units, which includes accidental damage protection. And yes, I am unaware of any quirks from this unit. Works fine. I'm no power user as you can see with the battery cycles. Just bought this for internet.
