2016 15" Macbook Pro/2.9Ghz i7/16GB RAM/1TB HDD/4GB Graphics/Space Gray
Flawless, like new 2016 15" Macbook Pro with TouchBar. 2.9 Ghz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD HD, 4GB Radeon Pro 460 and 1.5GB Intel HD Graphics 530 graphics. The top case, keyboard, touchpad, touchbar, and battery are brand new, just replaced on 9/19/2018. Battery only has 2 cycles on it. Apple repaired it under their official "Keyboard Service Program" which resulted in the entire top case being replaced along with all the components that are part of it. During the past 2 years, the laptop has been in a protective shell case connected to an external display and keyboard 99% of the time in my home office, so it was stationary and not subject to being carried around a lot. Hard disk was erased/formatted and a clean install of Mac OS High Sierra was performed. When booting up it will start from the setup screens just like a brand new system.

question - so the keyboard was rarely used yet it needed to be replaced? Was it just defective from the get go?
It was working fine all the way up until a few weeks ago. I used the keyboard on the laptop every once in awhile when I did take it off the desk. The issue with the keyboards is that if a spec of dirt does happen to get under a key, it might stop working. It's a known issue which is why Apple is willing to replace it for free even though it is past the warranty period. However, now that the repair has been done, the entire top case is new so it's a brand new keyboard, trackpad, touchbar, and even battery and casing, so it's pretty much like a brand new laptop.
