Do you have the necessary paperwork per Apple (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202712) to transfer the AppleCare+ coverage to a new owner? Have you exercised any of the benefits of the AppleCare coverage (repair or replacement)?
Any scratches on the screen or front face? Can you post a close-up photo of the phone with the screen on, preferably on the Settings > About page showing the model information? Thanks!
The device was purchased through apple, and is registered to the serial number not me individually. That article would be to transfer coverage from one apple device to another, I can see how that's confusing though. I have not had the device replaced for any issues in warranty, or used any of the two cases of accidental damage. The screen is as described in my description above, and the model is the one that I am selling it under (A1660)
That's what I thought at first as well, but that article does state the following, under "Here's what you'll need": "If you're transferring your AppleCare plan to another person, we’ll also need to know if you bought the device from Apple or a reseller and the new owner’s name and address." There is also a dedicated set of options at Apple's support site for transferring hardware ownership and AppleCare coverage -- https://getsupport.apple.com, then More > Hardware Coverage > Transfer Ownership. Seems pretty clear that there is some "paperwork" necessary to transfer the AppleCare coverage.
the part above "what you'll need" is what you should be looking at, where it discusses transferring ownership to another device. Again, Applecare is tied to the unique device serial number and follows that serial number, not an individual. if you have any more questions you can contact apple support for clarification.
I contacted AppleCare support by phone, and the gentleman I spoke with confirmed that the original owner must contact Apple to transfer the AppleCare coverage to the new owner, as well as provide the necessary documentation. Otherwise, there's nothing stopping the original owner from selling the device "with AppleCare included" and then contacting Apple after the fact for a refund of the unused portion of the AppleCare coverage, at which point the new owner is left without AppleCare that they presumably paid for.
If you're unable to provide the documentation or follow the proper steps for transferring AppleCare as outlined by Apple, that's fine -- but it should not be included as a selling point or factored into the selling price. Bottom line: I'm still interested in the phone, but you'll need to either provide the necessary documentation and agree to contact Apple to transfer the AppleCare, or reduce the price to be more in line with similar listings that do not include AppleCare.
Okay, thanks for the clarification. I can do that, obviously it would be done after purchase.
Hi, could you run the IMEI for me? I'm looking to use the phone on Wing, you can run the IMEI here https://customer-dev.wingalpha.com/detailed-esn-eligibility-check Please let me know!
