Is there any scratches on the screen?

There are no scratches. When I originally bought it, it already had screen protector on the screen.

So the bumps on the screen are from the screen protector? Is it removable?

Yes, it is from the protector. I am sure it is removable. We got it this way and my daughter never tried to remove it.

Will a case work to cover up what appears to be the upper screen's frame from sticking out?

yes it will work fine, my daughter used cased all along with no problem. The screen is ok, I checked last night. I will sell it to you for $80.

One last thing, is it activation ready? ICloud locked? & will it work for a GSM?

It is a clean phone, as I indicated it is unlocked, no iCloud locks on it. We had T-Mobile on it before, I know AT&T also uses GSM, but since it is unlocked it should not matter right.
