Unlocked HTC One M8 rooted with Viper android 6.1.0 loaded
Original owner. Rooted, S-Off. Device is originally purchased from Verizon, but I've used this phone on T-Mobile as well as Verizon as well as 2 different carriers in Brazil. I have it loaded with a ROM from the Viper team that I have found to be very stable and if you re-load that ROM (which I have the zip file loaded on the phone now). You can select the carrier so that all things function the way you wish.
Phone has been used and there are scratches on the back and a few on the screen, but nothing major. Bluetooth, WiFi all work fine in the current config. It's rooted so you can load whatever ROM you like.

Is this ROM stable? Can you use the hotspot feature on it with out being monitored?
the ROM is certainly stable (I've been using it for about a year now). I have actually not tried the hotspot feature but I can try it later today. I have no idea if it would remain monitored by the provider. I've not done anything specific to make it that way.
Check on that for me if you don't mind. Should come with wireless tethering with that particular ROM.
I am ver interested.
I will purchase if I can use that feature. It is something built into the ROM, not something that you would have done to it.
I just tried it this afternoon. I'd wiped it already but I re-installed the ROM and made it for t-Mobile, which is what I'm on now. I then turned off all the wifi and used the hotspot feature that is just in the settings. It worked, but I can't say that I got blazing speed from it. Maybe that was because I don't get awesome t-mobile signal in my house (I'm usually on wifi in the house) or something else. I just want to be totally open about that. But it worked and was able to make and receive telephone calls, etc. I've probably had 10 different ROMS on this over the last almost 3 years that I've had the phone, so it can handle others if you wish to load them. I just found this one to be the most stable and everything worked. Let me know if you have other questions or want me to try something else.
Can it still be used on Verizon Network now that it is on T-Mobile? The two companies are totally opposite, one is GSM and one is CDMA. I really never have seen an Android from Verizon work on T-Mobile's network, there are different antenna's in the phones to support the network.
Phone absolutely works on t-mobile, AND verizon. I purchased it on Verizon, and then switched to T-mobile when they bought me out of the payments and switched back to Verizon and now I'm back on T-mobile. I also used the phone on a trip to Brazil and used two separate GSM networks. This HTC phone was built originally for all networks and Verizon sold it unlocked. I had to root it, make s-off and such to get it to work on T-mobile, but it's been back and forth several times. The Current ROM, when you re-load it, has a choice that you can see in one of the pictures where you choose your current network. This phone has radios for all the networks, including 4G. I have had 4G on all four of the networks (3 GSM and VZW CDMA) that it has used.
Oh, and I just did a better test of the hotspot. I walked to a location with stronger 4G speed. I took the sim out of my existing phone (a pixel) and I hooked up the pixel to the hotspot with no issues. I was then able to use Spotify and update facebook and open up a web page. Still not super fast. I think if I were browsing a bunch of pages I might not like the speed but if I were listening to music or some such thing it would be fine since the music would just buffer a bit a first and be ok.
If you do end up being interested, I can flash the ROM to whatever network you currently have and then you can finish it if you like. But if you are comfortable flashing it, then I'd recommend doing that since you can then choose what apps to pre-load or not load, etc. The beauty of the phone is that now you switch networks when you want.
Hey, do you want this flashed to Verizon, or do you want to do it yourself?
Thanks
Phone has been shipped, flashed to Verizon. You should receive it tomorrow.
Hey Joe, tried to use it on Verizon and it is just showing 3G. Was there anything I can do to get it to LTE. Flash to stock or another ROM?
I know I got 4g with t-mobile and other carriers with that same rom. And it certainly got 4g when u had Verizon. You can try another rom, for sure. Just be patient as some don't work at all and on few occasions I had to let the battery run down when it would get hung in some loop. I've probably tried 20 different ROMs, some were great some not. The Google play experience ones were usually pretty good. Read the comments on each should help a lot. Good luck, wish it was giving 4g straight away.
