There is a split on the type cover where it connects to the tablet due to frequent connecting and disconnecting. The connection is still fine.

how's the screen condition? scratches and dings to casing? battery holds a decent charge?

Screen is good. Battery lasts well. Never really tested how long it lasts without charging though. Two three hours active using or overnight standby should be fine. Minor scratches at the USB port. No dings.
