You don\u2019t want to pass that on to another user, so you should deauthorize your computer from iTunes.<\/p>\n<p>How to deauthorize your MacBook from iTunes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open <\/span><b>iTunes<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the Account menu select and disable iCloud on your MacBook.<\/p>\n<p>How to sign out of iCloud on your MacBook:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of your Mac&#8217;s screen<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select to open <\/span><b>System Preferences<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select <\/span><b>iCloud <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the settings panel<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uncheck the <\/span><b>Find My Mac<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> checkbox<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select <\/span><b>Sign Out<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the bottom right <\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow the prompts to remove data from the <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span top-left corner of your screen<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Preferences<\/strong> from the drop-down menu<\/li>\n<li>Select your <strong>iMessage<\/strong> account<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Sign Out<\/strong> button<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Deauthorize other software<\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s also a good idea to sign out of and deauthorize any other third-party software that may be linked\/locked to your MacBook, such as Photoshop or Dropbox.<\/p>\n<p>Now you should be ready to reformat the hard-drive.<\/p>\n<h2>Reformat the MacBook hard-drive<\/h2>\n<p>After you\u2019ve backed up your MacBook and signed out of software you\u2019ll want to erase everything by reformatting the hard drive.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Restart<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> your holding until you see the <\/span><b>macOS Utilities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> screen<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select <\/span><b>Disk Utility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the Utilities menu<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the <\/span><b>Continue<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> button<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select your startup disk, usually named &#8220;<\/span><b>Macintosh HD<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; or similar<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Disk Utility click the <\/span><b>Erase<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> button along the top button bar<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Erase dialog select <\/span><b>Mac OS Extended (Journaled)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as the Format drop-down<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the <\/span><b>Erase<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> button, wait for process to complete<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then select <b>Quit Disk Utility<\/b> from the Disk Utility MacOS<\/h2>\n<p>Now we&#8217;ll install a fresh copy of MacOS on our just reformatted hard-drive.
