{"id":108,"date":"2013-12-04T18:17:52","date_gmt":"2013-12-04T18:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.swappa.com\/?p=108"},"modified":"2019-07-30T02:39:08","modified_gmt":"2019-07-30T07:39:08","slug":"factory-data-reset-android-device-before-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swappa.com\/blog\/factory-data-reset-android-device-before-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"Factory Data Reset your Android Device Before Sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\">Before you sell your Android device on Swappa, you&#8217;ll want to make sure you perform a <strong>Factory Data Reset<\/strong> and remove Google&#8217;s Device Protections from the device.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">A Factory Data Reset should be done on all Android devices before you ship and if your device is running Lollipop (Android 5.1) or later, you\u2019ll also need to ensure you remove Google\u2019s Device protections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Removing Google\u2019s Device Protections is easy, but it does add a few quick steps to the entire reset process. However, this MUST be done <em>before<\/em> you factory reset your device.<\/p>\n<p>*Note: Steps may vary depending on device make\/manufacturer.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p2\"><b>Removing Google\u2019s Device Protections<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p2\">1. Turn off the Screen lock by navigating to <strong>Settings<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Security<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Screen lock<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>None<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Yes, Remove<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1101 size-full img-responsive\" alt=\"01-01\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.swappa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/01-01-e1462397952471.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"370\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">2. Remove your Google account by navigating to <strong>Settings<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Accounts<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Google<\/strong>. From this point you\u2019ll need to tap on your Google account(s), and then, tap the Menu icon and select the option to Remove account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swappa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Remove-Google-Account-image-1-side.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-5956 img-responsive\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/swappa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Remove-Google-Account-image-1-side-1024x515.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"515\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p2\"><b>Perform the Android Factory Data Reset<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p2\">The Android Factory Data Reset erases all system and app data and settings, downloaded apps, music, photos, and other user data from the internal storage. A regular factory reset using the following instructions will not reset any removable storage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">3.
