Droid RAZR (with root/SafeStrap optional)
UPDATE: The price has been reduced as the ETF has gone down due to the approaching contract end date. Previously listed at $175, now available for $115.
UPDATE 2: The contract end date is 5/2/2014. After that, the phone will no longer be needed. If she can't get $55 (after Swappa fees, taxes and shipping) for it, she'd rather hang on to it as a backup, so the new permanent price for this listing will be $80 (this price is not negotiable). Feel free to purchase it now, but do so with the understanding that ***THE DEVICE CANNOT BE SHIPPED UNTIL 5/2/2014*** (If you overlooked this statement and made the purchase without understanding the specified timeframe I will happily refund your money minus the Swappa fee, and I'll try to get Swappa to reverse the fee so I can refund you the full amount).
This device is PURPLE! I'd like to get that out of the way in case it's a deal breaker. For those who don't mind purple, or intend to cover it with a case, please read on.
IF YOU'RE A PHONE NERD. READ THIS:
The device is rooted, and has SafeStrap recovery installed. If you are unfamiliar with SafeStrap, it is a recovery that allows the user to run customized versions of Android on their device. It also has a useful feature that will allow the user to have multiple versions of Android installed, and to choose which one they want to launch every time they turn on the device. The version of Android that it is currently running is 4.2.2, and the ROM is Eclipse. I'd be happy to load a ROM (or ROM's) of your choice if you let me know what you'd like. I will also make specific modifications upon request provided that they are mods I feel I comfortable that I'd be able to do without damaging the device.
IF YOU'RE NOT A PHONE NERD, READ THIS:
This device has a customized version of Android on it and allows you to access parts of the phone that you would not be able to normally. For this reason, it would be easier for an inexperienced user to do accidental damage. If this is not your cup of tea, I would be happy to restore the software to the state it was in when purchased. I'd recommend this option to beginners. It will keep you out of trouble!
BACKSTORY:
This has been a great device for my mother, who got it new a little over a year and a half ago. We are selling it because we plan to switch carriers, and the carrier we'd like to go to is not compatible with this device. She's already purchased a replacement for this one that will eventually be used for the new carrier, but can't use it on our current carrier for the same reason (it's not compatible with their network). If she pays the early termination fee on her current service, she can switch now and start using her new device right away, but otherwise she will have to wait a few months. So the idea is that if we can sell the device and obtain the amount needed to pay the ETF ($175), we will do that and switch now. To make the offer more appealing we are willing to include all the accessories she's accumulated, and I can set it up to your preference in terms of software. I'd recommend this to someone who wants to buy their first smartphone and doesn't want to spend $700 on a top-end model, or someone who would rather have smartphone service off-contract and wants to buy a phone up front for the same price that the more expensive phones would be with a contract renewal.
If the device is still available in May, we are likely to reduce the price since we won't need to meet the amount of the ETF on the current plan. However it would be better to sell it sooner so we can go ahead and get the service switched to the new provider.

Sam, please upload a "verification photo" showing your listing code (NRP595) on paper with the device (screen on), and another with included accessories. See examples and criteria here before posting: http://swappa.com/faq/verification-photos
Please comment here when you've uploaded so we can approve the listing. Thank you.
I'm sorry, I can't do that at this time because of the fact that I do not have the phone in front of me. It is my mother's phone and I'm selling it for her but I have to wait on her to send me the pictures. I saw the requirement shortly after making the post and asked her to send me the photos but she is not able to do it right away. I noted this in my description after realizing that it was a requirement. I will have the photos uploaded soon, I told her that I needed them ASAP and she said that she will send them as soon as she gets a chance this evening. Please do not delete my post as I can assure you the required photos will be uploaded within 24 hours. I'm sorry I did not have them ready as I was not aware of the requirement until after I posted. Thank you.
@Lucas Freeman, thanks for your patience, I have uploaded the required photos for verification. Please let me know if you need anything else.
@Ebere S, sorry about that, but Swappa charges $10, and it will cost another $10 for me to ship it. Then after taxes all that will be left from $60 is about $35. It's worth more than that to her and if she wouldn't clear at least $55 after expenses she'd rather just keep it.
Is it correct you are in Charlotte b/c im an hr from you where you wouldn't have to mail it to me I can just drive there to get it if I decided to buy it is that fine
if you don't seel it by the may 5th will you repost it again b/c im interested in buying it
@Jawanza, sure, I'll do that. I'll probably repost it until it sells, so don't worry too much about the listing disappearing unless someone eles purchases it. In the mean time, if you've got any questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them.
@Jawanza, also, with regard to your first message, it would probably cost me around $10 to ship it, so if you plan on coming to pick it up instead, I'd be happy to reduce the price by $10 to make up the difference (making the sell price $70).
Verizon says all their devices are GSM unlocked. With that said, there may be compatibility issues with different networks. The short answer is that i can't say for certain, but i believe so. Sorry I can't be more helpful. If you give me the name of the carrier I'll look into it.
When you get to the checkout page it is asking for $140? I'm not sure why that would be. If I need to make a new listing I will but before we do that let me know exactly what is happening so that I can explain the issue to Swappa in detail and see if we can get it corrected. Thanks for your patience.
Paypal is having some API issues. They are working to correct this. Typically retrying after some time has passed will show the correct amount. Also other users with this issue have stated that the correct amount is charged after checkout, but that Paypal just shows the total incorrectly in one box.
Sorry for the hassle.
Lucas, thanks for the info. Beruk Z, considering that according to what Lucas is saying you should not be overcharged if the price in the box is wrong, if you'd like to give it a try I'll be happy to refund the sale if it turns out that PayPal charges it as $140.
I've also changed it to $85 and then back to $80 to see if that would fix it, hopefully it will. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
I just tried it and still shows $140.00. Is $80.00 the total price with shipping? I also want you to restore the software to its purchased state.
Yes, $80 is the entire price. I will get $70 after Swappa's fees, so you don't need to worry about that, and I'll cover shipping in the US. Not sure why it's showing $140, but as I mentioned earlier if it charges you incorrectly I'd be happy to cancel the transaction and let you try it again. As far as the software, I'd be happy to reset everything to the factory defaults, and will send it off as soon as I have made those changes (hopefully today before 2 PM EST so that it will leave with today's mail).
@Beruk Z, I am showing that you just purchased the device and that it processed for the right amount. Can you please confirm that everything is as it should be before I ship it so that I know there hasn't been an error? Thanks.
